Name: Cecile Beauregarde Age: 20 Birthdate: September 5th Gender: Female Profession: Cecile is a spellcaster, launching balls of fire and putting up walls of fire for self-defense. Over time, however, she switches to using wind for this purpose. Notable Possessions: A golden staff with her initials carved into it, which can function both as a walking stick and a creator of an invisible barrier. Favourite scent: Honeysuckle. Appearance: Cecile has wavy, auburn hair cascading to mid-back. Her complexion is alabaster and she burns very easily in the sun. She frequently purses her lips together to express either disdain or contemplation, two states that are difficult to tell apart with her. Although she is more comfortable displaying her serious side, she breaks out into a toothy smile that slowly spreads across her face when something strikes her as amusing. Cecile has light brown eyes that look almost pale amber in the sunlight. She wears clothing with an elegant, yet simple cut, except for special occasions when she gravitates towards anything with huge bows and lace. Her hair is normally pulled back into a stylish chignon, with a few strands of auburn falling into her face. ![]() Personality: Cecile comes to the West with a condescending, distinctly stuffy air. She keeps people at arms’ length because she is afraid people will judge her if they get too close, since she is from a different culture and has a naturally introverted temperament. She is worried about losing her identity, so she clings to anything that reminds her of back home, and frequently plays foreign Western songs on the piano to make her feel as if she were back home. At first, she rejects the Western culture, partly because she thinks she can never compete with the fast-paced, rugged-individualist speed. She prefers to take things slow. Cecile does not show much interest in meeting new people, and spends her time instead writing letters she never sends to her ex-boyfriend back home. As far as first impressions go, Cecile doesn’t make the best ones. She seems preoccupied with other things, uninterested in what’s going on around her and wrapped up in her own thoughts. She can appear rude at the beginning, but this doesn't stem from her core, and she is fundamentally curious about people. When they are patient and take the time to probe a bit, they can usually unmask a gentler, more affable girl who is happy to help others, so long as they don’t try to change her ways. Her protective spellcasting abilities win the hearts of a few, whom she is willing to defend. When people take the time to talk to Cecile and take her as she is, she is fiercely devoted to them and protects them just as she unyieldingly protects her threatened identity as a foreigner in Memphis. Place of Residence: She lives with her widowed aunt, who moved to the West years ago and took the young Cecile under her wing. Cecile lives in the attic of a three-story building, with her aunt living in the third floor and other tenants living in the bottom two. The attic is cozy but she often feels claustrophobic due to the sloped ceilings and lone, circular window that offers her little sunlight. Still, Cecile quickly made her attic room her own, adding personal touches such as an old mahogany armoire, patchwork quilt she made herself, and glass figurines she keeps for good luck. To eat meals and have company, Cecile leaves her attic and joins her aunt or the neighbors down below. But often, she’s happier staying in the attic, finding comfort in small things that remind her of the past. History: Cecile's father lost the family’s large fortune when he went into business with a man who ran away with the money he put in. Her mother and father decided it would be best to send Cecile to Memphis, a place that promised more opportunities and potential, unlike the stagnant life the family fell into in their country of Peyton. Fortunately, an aunt of hers already established herself in Memphis, and offered to house and provide for Cecile. The drastic changes in Cecile’s environment have made her resistant to changing herself, and she seeks solace in that which cannot change. She has unresolved feelings for her ex-boyfriend from home, holding onto the thought of him for the security it brings, if little else. Before she left Peyton, her grandmother taught her to be a spellcaster, which she has a knack for. |
